Simon Fraser University’s (SFU) new five-story 173,000 sq. ft. Sustainable Energy and Engineering Building represents the first major step in expanding beyond its Central City campus.

This ultra-modern facility will house the Sustainable Energy and Engineering Program (SE3P), the first dedicated undergraduate program of its kind in Western Canada, certified by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. The project utilizes Bedcolab’s full product lineup with CiF’s premium wood casework.  Alliance Scientific combined the very best in terms of durability and flexibility of both manufacturers to ensure that the users have a highly adaptable space for inevitable layout changes frequently occurring as soon as they inhabit the space.

Bedcolab’s Products:

  • Harmony Metal Casework with CiF Wood Fronts
  • Forte Metal Casework
  • Vanguard High Performance Fume Hoods
  • Flexible and Adaptable Table Systems

CiF Lab Solutions’ Products:

  • E-Line Wood Casework

Our Sustainable Energy Engineering Building at Simon Fraser University was a challenge from the start with all laboratories to be designed for unidentified researchers.  The laboratories had to be highly-flexible from the beginning as inevitable changes were expected as users occupy the space.  Working closely with Alliance Scientific was critical in getting the optimal casework systems selected that could handle the necessary alterations over time.  Alliance’s team was a pleasure to work with and stayed “hands on all the way through construction.  We look forward to the next opportunity to collaborate and work with Alliance Scientific.
